17-week-old Peanut

Week 17: Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

Dear Peanut,

Look at how much you have grown! Mommy's waist is now about 32"...we can almost fit in Daddy's jeans!

5-Year Wedding Anniversary and 17-Week Check-up

Dear Peanut,

Today is a great day!! It is not only our appointment day but also Mommy and Daddy's 5-year wedding anniversary. And the best gift we could ever get is to listen to your super strong heartbeat!

You are 17w1d old today. The doctor pulled out the doppler and found you right away! You have a very strong heartbeat, around 150-160 beats/min. Daddy was bopping his head to the rhythm of your beats and Mommy was just mesmerized.

Mommy weighs 110 lb today! We gained 1 lbs and it's all belly! The doctor says you are growing well and told Daddy not to worry about Mommy's weight. Yippeee...that means we can eat MORE food...YUM!

We scheduled your gender ultrasound for October 6. Mommy and Daddy cannot wait to find out if you are a little boy or girl.

Till then, keep on growing!

Juicy Baby

Hi Peanut!

Mommy got the cutest little onesies for you! It's from Juicy Couture...since it is one of Mommy's favorite lounging around brand, I thought, why not for peanut too! They are white and made from the softest cotton. There is a little scottie puppy crest on the chest in addition to the words "Juicy Baby".

Can't wait to put you in them.

Peanut's Butter

Hi Peanut!

Daddy bought you your first puppy yesterday. He's so cute. Mommy named him Butter for you because he is the color of sweet creamy butter! Butter has velvety-soft fur, floppy ears, beanbag paws and a big puppy nose. It was puppy love at first sight! Your sister, Zoë, has been eyeing him. I think she thinks Daddy got her a new friend. Don't worry though, we are keeping him safe till your arrival!

Can't wait to give Butter to you...you guys are going to be great friends!

Baby Einstein Lullabies

Week 16: Tiny bones in your fetus's ears are in place this week, making it likely that the baby can hear your voice when you're speaking (or singing in the shower). In fact, studies have found that babies who are sung to while they're in the womb recognize the same tune when it's sung to them after they are born (so choose your baby Muzak with that in mind…).

Dear Peanut,

Mommy is going to start playing you Baby Einstein lullabies this week! I am so excited that you are starting to hear! Mommy went to buy some headphones this weekend (so it fits over Mommy's belly) and will be loading Daddy's iPod shuffle with the music. Daddy says Mommy should load some Chinese music on it too...but nah, I think you would rather listen to Baby Einstein!

Have fun!

Swirls and Swishes

Is that you, Peanut?

Mommy has been feeling some swirls and swishes in her belly. It feels like someone is taking a paintbrush and painting her insides. It tickles! Sometimes, Mom catches herself with a big smile after she has that feeling...it is so good to finally feel you! I can't wait till I feel your bigger movements, like your kicks and taps.

The Peanut has POPPED! (14 weeks)

Look Peanut!

You just popped out of Mommy's belly! It seems like this just happened overnight. Last week when Mommy and Daddy were on our babymoon, Mommy could still hide her impending baby bump. But it doesn't seem like that anymore!

Must be all the yummy food Daddy's been feeding us. Keep on growing, Peanut!
